This is a watercolour I have done recently that has special significance for me. I have an interest in geneology and also attend a weekly art class. The topic was for an urban landscape, I found a picture of North Street, Leatherhead, Surrey 1906. My great grandfather had a bootmaking business in North Street at the turn of the last century.
The water colour by making a watercolour background using a few colours wet into wet and dropped salt onto the paper (accounts for the blotches) allowing the paper to throughly dry. I then drew the image using sepia pens, then went in with touchs of watercolour to enhance the image and finally white gouche, again used sparingly. Finally I bought a frame and a double mount to complete the picture.
